If you’re considering tearing down the 3.2-liter air-cooled flat-six in your 1984-1989 Porsche 911 , this stop-motion video should help motivate you. Mercedes’ renaissance promises to continue with the all-new E-class cabriolet and coupe. Under development and set for launch in 2017, the new sports cars share the all-new hardware from the E-class saloon (codenamed W213), including its boxfresh straight-six engines, and a high-tech cockpit to make Luke Skywalker envious. The design will evolve the look of the current car, which is pictured here.

Land speed record holders Andy Green and Richard Noble are teaming up set a new land speed record, they announced today. The pair are preparing to break through the 1000mph barrier for the first time, 12 years after they set today's 763mph record. The two speed specialists today launch the Bloodhound Project – which will sire a 6.4-tonne supersonic car.
